The Customs Brokers and Forwarders Council of Australia Inc. received the attached notice from Patrick Terminal advising industry of the new infrastructure surcharge to be implemented from 10 March 2014 at Patrick East Swanston Dock in Melbourne.

The surcharge will be applied to road transport operators for all full container movements (VBS and Bulk Runs), both import and export, handled at the Terminal. The surcharge of $3.50 per container will be invoiced electronically via One Stop.

Transport operators will most likely pass on the infrastructure surcharge down the chain as they will not be able to absorb additional costs. Such fees should be passed down to clients to include in their costing's.
